Privacy Policy
NVM Minutes turns speech into text. This policy explains exactly what happens to your audio, your transcripts and everything else the extension touches.

1. Summary
This policy covers the four disclosures required by the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy. None is omitted:

NVM Minutes has no servers, no accounts and no analytics. Your transcripts are written to your own browser's local storage and never reach us. We, NVM Apps, cannot read your transcripts, your audio or your settings.
Speech recognition itself, however, is not performed on your device. Converting audio into text requires a speech recognition service, and the audio has to reach that service to be transcribed. This is the single most important thing to understand about the extension, so it is stated plainly in section 3.
2. Who we are
NVM Minutes is published by NVM Apps, the developer of the Chrome extension “NVM Minutes” (extension ID hhbadfkkdcgjidiceblhilnkgpedecab) and of this website, minutes.nvmapps.com. For any privacy question or request, contact nms.developer443@gmail.com. For the purposes of the UK and EU GDPR, NVM Apps is the data controller for the limited processing described here.
3. What data we collect and how it is handled
The table below covers every category of data the extension touches. Nothing outside this table is collected.

What we do not collect
- No accounts, names, email addresses or passwords.
- No analytics, telemetry, crash reporting or usage statistics.
- No cookies, advertising identifiers or tracking pixels — in the extension or on this website.
- No browsing history, page content, form data or keystrokes.
- No location data, contacts, calendar entries or files.
- No recordings. The extension never saves an audio file.
4. Third parties that receive your audio
Transcription requires a speech recognition service. Which one receives your audio depends on the engine you select in the side panel. No audio is sent to either provider unless you press Start.
Chrome speech engine (default)
This engine uses the Web Speech API built into Google Chrome. When it is active, Chrome sends your microphone audio to Google's speech recognition servers and returns the recognised text. This transfer is performed by Chrome itself, not by the extension's code, and it is governed by Google's Privacy Policy. NVM Apps has no visibility into or control over that processing, and receives nothing from it.
Whisper via Groq (optional)
If you select this engine and supply your own API key, the extension sends short segments of the mixed meeting audio to Groq, Inc. at api.groq.com for transcription with the Whisper model. Your agreement is with Groq and is governed by their Privacy Policy and terms. Review them before enabling this engine, particularly if your meetings are confidential. This engine is off unless you turn it on and enter a key.
Website hosting
This website is hosted on Vercel. Vercel processes standard server request data such as IP address and user agent for the purpose of serving and securing the site, as described in the Vercel Privacy Policy. We do not add analytics to this site and we do not set cookies.
5. How your data is stored
Transcripts, preferences and any API key you enter are stored in chrome.storage.local, which lives in your Chrome profile directory on your own computer. This area is sandboxed by Chrome so that other extensions and websites cannot read it. It is not encrypted separately from your operating system's own protections, and it is not synced to your Google account.
Anyone with access to your unlocked computer and Chrome profile can therefore read stored transcripts. If you transcribe sensitive material, use the Reset button when you are finished.
Audio in transit is protected by TLS: Chrome's speech service and the Groq API are both reached over HTTPS.
6. How your data is shared
We do not sell, rent, trade or share your data with anyone. There is no advertising in NVM Minutes and no data broker relationship. We have no database of users, because the extension never contacts a server of ours.
The only transfers of your data to another party are the transcription requests described in section 4, which happen at your direction when you press Start. In line with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, we confirm that data handled by NVM Minutes is not sold to third parties, is not used or transferred for purposes unrelated to the extension's single purpose, and is not used or transferred to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
We may disclose information if legally compelled to do so — though in practice we hold nothing to disclose.
7. Retention and deletion
You are in full control, because everything is stored on your machine.
- Delete the current transcript: press Reset in the side panel.
- Delete your API key: clear the API key field in the side panel.
- Delete everything: remove the extension from
chrome://extensions. Chrome erases the extension's entire local storage on uninstall.
Nothing is retained after those actions, and there is no copy held elsewhere for us to delete. Data already transmitted to Google or Groq is subject to their own retention policies, which we cannot influence.
8. Permissions the extension requests
Each permission is requested for a specific, narrow reason. NVM Minutes requests no permission it does not use.

The extension contains no remotely hosted code. Every script it runs is included in the package you install from the Chrome Web Store, as required for Manifest V3.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under the GDPR, the UK GDPR, the CCPA/CPRA, or India's DPDP Act to access, correct, export, delete or restrict processing of your personal data, and to object to it.
Because NVM Apps holds no copy of your data, you can exercise all of these rights directly and immediately using the controls in section 7 — no request to us is required, and there is nothing for us to look up. If you would like confirmation of that in writing, or have any other privacy question, write to nms.developer443@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
For data held by Google or Groq as a result of transcription requests, please direct requests to those companies under their respective policies.

11. Children
NVM Minutes is a productivity tool intended for adults in a work or study setting. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. As the extension collects no personal data on our side, there is no children's data for us to hold or remove.
12. Security
- All network requests use HTTPS/TLS.
- The extension ships no remotely hosted code and executes nothing downloaded at runtime.
- A strict Content Security Policy applies to every extension page.
- Host access is limited to api.groq.com; the extension cannot read the pages you visit.
- Your API key is sent only to Groq, in the authorisation header of your own requests.
No system is perfectly secure. If you believe you have found a vulnerability in NVM Minutes, please report it to nms.developer443@gmail.com rather than disclosing it publicly, and we will address it promptly.
13. International transfers
Google and Groq operate infrastructure in multiple countries, so audio sent for transcription may be processed outside your own. Those transfers are made under the providers' own safeguards and policies, linked in section 4. NVM Apps itself transfers no data anywhere.
14. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, the effective date at the top of the page will be updated and the change summarised here. Changes that would broaden what is collected will be announced in the extension itself before they take effect. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
